Yoga is a system dedicated to awakening flexibility in the body, mind & spirit. Adapting a variety of styles yoga, we cover foundation & classic postures (asanas), combinations & flows, alignment, pranayama (breathing) techniques, & meditation.
The morning classes often incorporate vinyasa flow yoga. This is a synchronisation of asanas (postures) breath & focus that produces a graceful & rhythmic flowing yoga. Emphasising the body-mind connection, the physical asanas maintain a healthy body through improved flexibility, stamina & strength.
The evening class is usually Yin based. Yin yoga is a style that focuses on long, gentle holds that target the fascia (connective tissue), as well as the muscles. Yin yoga is associated with the flow of energy (chi/ qi/ prana) through the fascia (along the meridians/ nadis), and can be a life-altering experience for those who’s daily routine tends to be hectic & highly energised.
In both classes you may experience different pranayama techniques. The yogic art of conscious breathing brings balance to the emotions & calms the mind.
Each class generally includes a short guided meditation. Historically, meditation has always been an integral part of yoga. Some would even say, that the true purpose of the physical ‘asanas’ / postures is to bring about change in the physical body, & increase the mind’s capacity for concentration & focus, required to spend time in long meditative states. Learning the fundamental art of meditation provides a rare opportunity to experience the deep silence that rests within your soul & allows you to reconnect with your inner wisdom & authentic self.
Private sessions are available to further your practice, learn more about specific areas of yoga (such as pranayama, yoga philosophy, & meditation); or consult with our Resident Yoga teacher about developing & sustaining your personal practice once back home.
The Yoga Sala is fully equipped with Manduka mats, blocks, straps, bolsters & a range of Thai cushions. It comfortable holds 16 students, & provides a comfortable & secluded space for experienced yogis & complete beginners alike, to explore the joy of Yoga
